'll miss them when they're gone from your life. I've learned that making a "living" is not the same thing as making a "life." I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance. I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw something back. I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision. I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one. I've learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back. I've learned that I still have a lot to learn. I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.


Maya Angelou died today- 5-28-2014

Born on April 4, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri, writer and civil rights activist Maya Angelou is known for her 1969 memoir, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, which made literary history as the first nonfiction best-seller by an African-American woman. In 1971, Angelou published the Pulitzer Prize-nominated poetry collection Just Give Me a Cool Drink of Water 'Fore I Die. She later wrote the poem "On the Pulse of Morning"—one of her most famous works—which she recited at President Bill Clinton's inauguration in 1993. Angelou has received several honors throughout her career, including two NAACP Image Awards in the outstanding literary work (nonfiction) category, in 2005 and 2009.

She celebrated life! a mentor to many, to learn to overcome!

Change happens ~ Lisa M..... I feel we have to be ok with it! Today feels a little different without my Fathers in it! He was/is a brave man, he hated the cold! and was happy to be in California this past winter, he went still on his 73rd Birthday 5-20, and died yesterday 5-21-14 at 4:46 pm. My Brother Glenn Mosham words have stayed with me, " Dad hated being cold, he said; it's hard to think of him laying on ice" Wow he is right, kinda made me sad, then I said; he ask to be a medical cadaver for science research, he knew he would be placed on ice for a year or so! I am very proud of him, he wanted to make a difference in others lives, by letting students learn about his type of cancers and kidney failure, heart issues, and vascular disease. It was hard to witness such medical issues, and seeing him suffer in ways I never knew one could! But you know what, he still had a ... Can you give me .. AN OH Yeah!!! Love him, just wanted to share, this story of a brave man!

Women within the Secularism movement have more opportunities today for sharing their unique perspectives. Advocate for social issues that are broader than a lack of belief in any god, including: complete and total separation of church and state, scientific integrity, human rights for all, promoting peace,family values, women's rights, education, gender equality regarding government legislation actions, etc. ~Lisa Mosham



ATHEIST BILLBOARDS ARRIVE IN NORTHEAST OHIO
11 billboard ads showcase non-believers

Cleveland, Ohio – Billboard ads are being placed around Northeast Ohio showcasing area nonbelievers as part of a national “Out of the Closet” campaign sponsored by the Freedom From Religion Foundation. Highlighted on 11 billboards (nine around Cleveland and two in Akron) are individuals, couples, families and/or groups, with their own personalized quotes on each board. The ads are intended to inspire other area atheists, agnostics, humanists and freethinkers to be comfortable about “coming out of the closet” as non-believers.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) has been running this ad campaign in cities around the U.S. since late 2010. This is the first time that it has been done in Northeast Ohio. The participating groups are Northern Ohio Freethought Society (NOFS), and the Akron Secular Student Alliance (SSA) at Akron University.

Annie Laurie Gaylor, Co-President of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, stated, “It’s time to welcome atheists and agnostics into the American mainstream. Freethinkers are respectable and have much to offer our nation.”
“This is very exciting for us, and I am grateful that we can be a part of it,” said Marni Huebner-Tiborsky, Director of NOFS, a chapter of the Freedom From Religion Foundation. “I hope this campaign has a positive effect in our communities, and gets people to rethink their views about atheists.”

Marni’s husband Mark Tiborsky is on one of the billboard ads with his wife. “We just want to let other non-believers, or those on the fence about their religious belief, know they’re not alone and that the local non-theist community is both welcoming and growing.”

Sharon Woznicki, another NOFS member, said, “I’m very proud to be part of this campaign. We’re letting people know it’s okay to be an atheist, and we want other like-minded people to be comfortable coming out of the closet.”

The billboard ads are slated to appear by the evening of May 5 and will be in place for one month. For more information, please visit:
